2013, Demos, Interviews and New 2014 Album Release Annoucement

if you’re reading this message, it’s because I’ve just uploaded a brand new track from my upcoming album that’s due for release next year. I thought I’d talk a little about it and also what’s coming in the next few months for Sleep City Crisis. Before anything I would like to talk about where we left off.

Upon, releasing last year’s The Akashic Records Vol.1 I began in January making music without overthinking the music making process. I was just  loading up a bunch of samples, VST instruments, and my bass guitar just fucking around. I had no intention of finishing any tracks, but I ended up with over 100 unfinished tracks and uploading the 2013 Demos (which by the way.. I thought.. I deleted it and I didn’t…. so you can check it out here if you want to).

Afterwards, I stepped back from music for awhile for two reasons. One reason was I wasn’t satisfied with any of the stuff I attempted to finish and the other reason, I was enjoying life (by enjoying life, I mean staying home and enjoying all forms of indoor activities like video games, graphic novel reading, and other great exciting things!).  Sometime around April, I had the pleasure of meeting with Grace from Graceful Sounds Radio (SPOILER ALERT: I sounded like a massive stoner) and I had my first radio interview with her, which you can listen to here and my first online interview. Along with a nice review here.

I spent the year so far consuming lots of media like video games, graphic novels, some films, and then got really deep into watching documentaries. I had been doing some collaborations that didn’t exactly fall through with the exception of one collaboration with Stevie B from The Killing Hours which is still going on.

So when am I going to stop babbling and talk about the upcoming album? Well right now because it all relates.

While I was being immersed between media consumption and watching documentaries, I was lead thorough many ideas which inspired the theme and direction of the upcoming album. Although the theme of this upcoming album may seem familiar, this will not be part of The Akashic Records theme.

This untitled album will be much more lengthy to a point where it may be released in a trilogy series. This will also be a whole other challenge musically and production wise for me.

In this album, we will be exploring the body, mind, and spirit as it travels from mundane life to higher forms of reality. I’m adding a lot more elements in compositions that will make you do more than the thinking that The Akashic Records Vol.1 did. They’ll be a lot of frequency experiments in this album with binary beats and more.

Out of all the tracks that I have completed, I have decided to upload the simplest one today, but in the next few months, I will be uploading more tracks ending The Akashic Records Vol. 1 era and also will be continuing my pending collaborations  (Excuse my terrible grammar).

The new track “Samsara” can be heard here

Thank you for listening and reading,

Damian C.
